In 1945 Frank L. Horgan purchased the J.W. Grace Insurance Agency and combined this book of business with his own, which was operated under the name of the Guardian Insurance Company. Within a short period of time the name was changed to the Frank L. Horgan Insurance Agency. On January 2, 1970, the Agency was incorporated and became the Frank L. Horgan Insurance Agency Inc.

Since 1945, there have been purchases of several small insurance agencies, which were then combined with the principal agency. These included the James A. Woodward Agency, Earle Greene Agency, Gershom D. Hall Agency, James C. Brophy Agency and the Leonard Insurance Agency.
